We’re sponsoring a drive to collect all kinds and sizes of new and clean, gently-used bras, new underwear, plus any type of individually sealed feminine products.

Through the local affiliate of I Support the Girls, these items will be distributed to disadvantaged women in our community who desperately need them.

Please reach out to the women in your circles who might be interested in contributing to this worthy cause!

Once you collect the items, just give us a call and an Altrusa member will pick them up!

Bra drive ends June 30th.

To learn more about this drive, items to be collected, and pick up information

please call Pat at (614) 565-2808.

THank you for your support of Spring Fling!

Welcome to Altrusa International of Columbus!

We’re a Columbus-based service association of active and retired business and professional people who want to support the community through local service projects. We fundraise so we can provide grants to help support worthwhile nonprofit organizations. One of our core goals is to improve literacy for children and adults, which we see as a gateway to opportunity. We also support endeavors that benefit women and children who are often overlooked or fall between the cracks. Learn more here about the organizations and causes we support.

Be Part of Something Much Bigger

At Altrusa, we believe that everyone has the power to make a positive difference in the world. Whether through volunteering your time, talents, or treasure, every person’s effort, no matter how small, contributes to the greater good here and abroad. Learn more here about our fundraising efforts that support local and regional non-profits.

Personal Development

Through our activities, members develop leadership skills in a supportive environment. We embrace new ideas and offer flexibility, ensuring that everyone can contribute in a way that suits their schedule, abilities, and interests. Altrusa was created originally as a women’s service organization but in 1987, men were permitted to join. We’re always on the lookout for new members regardless of gender!

International Affiliations

We are part of the much larger Altrusa International organization of nearly 300 clubs in the US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and New Zealand. The first Altrusa Club was established in 1917 in Nashville, Tennessee, and our Columbus Club was chartered in 1918, making it one of the oldest continuing Altrusa clubs in the world. Our members come from diverse backgrounds and professions, yet we are all driven by a shared passion for bettering the community. We cherish the friendships, fun, and fulfillment that come from working together to help others.

Check Us Out!

We invite you to join us at one of our monthly meetings. We gather on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 at local restaurants around Columbus for dinner meetings, or at other locations for special events or a potluck meal. We meet via Zoom in January and February. About 2-3 times a year we have fun meetings during which we might “paint and sip,” glaze ceramics, learn floral arranging or participate in a yoga demonstration after an abbreviated business meeting. Additionally, we offer informal opportunities to get to know each other with our “Third Thursday” lunches at various restaurants around town.

We want to hear from you! Reach out to us on our Facebook page Altrusa Columbus Ohio or contact us for more information about our meetings, or to learn more about what we do.
